Juno and the Paycock at the National Theatre of Great Britain

1 Jun 2011 0 Comments

In September 2011, as part of the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival the Abbey Theatre in its first-ever co-production with the National Theatre of Great Britain presented Juno and the Paycock by Sean O’Casey.

The second part of O’Casey’s great Dublin Trilogy is set against the political and social events of the Irish Civil War in 1922 and is an epic tale of survival and vengeance. Directed by Howard Davies and designed by Irish designer Bob Crowley this production stars Risteárd Cooper as Joxer Daly, Sinéad Cusack as Juno Boyle and Ciarán Hinds as Captain Jack Boyle.

After a hugely successful sell-out run at the Abbey Theatre, Juno and the Paycock transferred to the National Theatre of Great Britain and opened at the Lyttelton Theare on Wednesday 16 November and has received an enthusiastic response from audiences in London.

Juno and the Paycock runs at the National Theatre of Great Britain until Sunday 26 February 2012.
