While I thought the acting was excellent and the costumes were fabulous, I didnt enjoy the play.  I thought it was a bit dreary, didnt find anything funny (with the exception of one or two chuckles), on Saturday 5th Sept, the audience wasnt laughing (so its not just me).  When the curtain went down, I (and the rest of the theatre) left, I`m not sure if that was also the end of the play, but the actors didnt come out for a final bow, so perhaps there was more to come (but on the information on the website, it said there was no interval). sorry.

Travelled over the sea to Dublin this weekend to see one of my favourite plays and it was so worth the 9 hour ferry journey! The acting was superb, the stage and costumes alive and bright and not a dull moment in the entire play! My faviourite scene has to be Faulkland’s waiting for Julia at the door - Marty was just brilliant. Rory’s performance kept me laughing throughout… I have never seen Jack protrayed in such a hilarious light… it was a fantastic performance. This was my first trip to the Abbey and I will definitely be returning! Thanks to everyone involved!

THE RIVALS WAS A TRUELY DELIGHTFUL PLAY,FAST PACED AND VERY VERY WITTY AND FUNNY,WITH IMPECABLE PERFORMANCES FROM EVERY CAST MEMBER,REALLY ENJOYED IT.
