Abbey Philanthropists (tax effective giving)

Securing the future of Irish Theatre

We invite you to become an Abbey Philanthropist.

As an Abbey Philanthropist you will demonstrate your passion for and commitment to the Abbey and play a significant role in ensuring its future.

Should you wish to become an Abbey Philanthropist you need to be aware that philanthropists will not receive any benefit or recognition as a result of their donation to the Abbey Theatre.

From 1 January 2013, all donations from individuals (both PAYE workers and Self-Assessed) with be treated the same and the Abbey Theatre may seek tax relief on donations over €250 at a blended marginal rate of 31%.

Tax relief, as a deduction, is no longer available to self-employed individuals in respect of donations made to an Authorised Charity from 1 January 2013 onwards.

To make tax-efficient donating easier, donors can now opt to make an ‘enduring declaration’ to charities for up to five years. This removes the need for annual form filling by donors and eases the administrative burden on charities and Revenue.
