Abbey Theatre announces 2014 Spring / Summer Season

The Abbey Theatre is delighted to announce its 2014 Spring / Summer Season. The exciting new programme features major revivals of Irish classics, new writing, children’s theatre and dance. With 311 performances over 213 days, there will be more than one performance a day to choose from over the next eight months.

Our 110th anniversary season is a season of firsts. In Sive, actors Róisín O’Neill and Daniel Reardon make their Abbey stage debuts. Conservatory, a new play by Michael West, directed by Michael Barker-Caven, will open for its world premiere on the Peacock stage. Patrick Mason, who has directed many of Brian Friel’s plays, returns to the Abbey Theatre to direct Aristocrats for the first time. Heartbreak House by Bernard Shaw is presented for the first time in the Abbey’s history and sees Róisín McBrinn makes her Abbey stage directorial debut.

By March 2014 the Abbey Theatre will have embarked on two tours, promoting new Irish writing. The award-winning Quietly by Owen McCafferty and Me, Mollser by Ali White will be performed in 20 venues nationally and internationally, travelling over 4,882km.
