110 Anniversary Season

110 Anniversary Season

A special season which perfectly encapsulates the Abbey Theatre today.

For our 110 anniversary season we are collaborating with exciting artists on new plays, touring throughout Ireland, presenting award-winning independent theatre, great plays from the Irish repertoire and a contemporary interpretation of Shakespeare.

This Autumn we will present two new plays from exciting contemporary writers.

Our Few and Evil Days, written and directed by Mark O’Rowe, will be a highlight of this year’s Dublin Theatre Festival and stars Ian Lloyd Anderson, Sinéad Cusack, Ciarán Hinds, Charlie Murphy and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor.

On the Peacock stage, Shaun Dunne will make his Abbey Theatre debut with his new play The Waste Ground Party directed by Gerard Stembridge.

From July to December we will be on tour around Ireland with our sell out productions of Eamon Morrissey’s Maeve’s House, directed by Gerard Stembridge and John B. Keane’s Sive, directed by Conall Morrison.

This December we present Oliver Goldsmith’s enduring comedy She Stoops to Conquer directed by Conall Morrison, the ideal entertainment this Christmas.

Following this year’s sensational production of Twelfth Night, we continue our exploration of Shakespeare in Spring 2015 when we welcome Gavin Quinn to direct A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

During this busy season we will also welcome the best of independent Irish theatre with performances of FOLLOW by WillFredd Theatre and Lippy by Dead Centre.

Booking is now open and we look forward to welcoming you for this exciting moment in the Abbey Theatre’s story.
